I lost the box that pops up with foreign characters, accents, etc.

Until I clicked on something accidentally, I was able to click on insert,
then symbol and a box with foreign characters/symbols would pop up to allow
me to type my Spanish papers. Now it seems to be gone when I click on symbol,
nothing pops up. Where did it go? How do I get it back?

That's not something that should be able to happen, but there are
easier ways to type the Spanish accents -- assuming you have an
English (US) keyboard (maybe they're different for other flavors of
the English keyboard), for the acute accent, type Ctrl-apostrophe
followed by the letter (cap or lowercase), for the tilde, type Ctrl-~
(next to the exclamation point) followed by the n or N. I don't know
where the inverted ! and ? are, but you can ask the Help button how to
type them. (It'll also show you how to get the other accents used in
French, German, etc.)

As Peter points out, however, if you use Spanish characters frequently, it
would be worth your while to note and remember the shortcut keys for them.
