Using long hyperlinks

Hi folks,

currently I am struggling with a link problem in MS Excel (2003, SP1): I
cannot add links that are longer than 256 characters.

In MS Word and MS PPT, I generally have the same problem, but in these two
applications there is a simple workaround. When I click on "Browse for
File", I can insert very long hyperlinks in the input field "File Name". Two
clicks on "OK" and it works.

In MS Excel, this workaround is not applicable, the link gets truncated to
256 digits. Does anyone know an alternative way?

Best regards - Rainer

Have you tried the following:

when you browse for a file and the link is displayed in the 'Text to
display" field at the top of the box - you should be able to delete as little
or as much of the text as you wish and a long hyperlink can be inserted but
with a small amount of text displayed.
