Using input type of FILE

Can you specify the extensions that are allowed when you do an <input
type="file"> or does it automatically go to *.*?

I've tried this before, and i believe there's no way.

I think its some security risk as that is a client side function and the
<input type=file control is quite locked down (you cannot set it a default
value either)

I do need this as well, so i'll be watching this thread with fingers crossed
