Computer Dummy ? - None of us were born with a mouse in
our hands.
Which program did you install that afterwards the printer and
scanner stopped working ? Are the Scanner and Printer both
connected with USB cables [Small Rectangular] ?
If so you may have "Phantom" devices with those two pieces of
hardware. The following may help.
1. Look on the back of your PC, unplug both the Printer and
scanner. (The USB sockets are at the top below the round
sockets for mouse & keyboard )
2. Click Start, Control Panel (Click Classic View), Open the
System Applet, Click on the Hardware Tab. Click "View" &
tic the option "Show Hidden Devices".
3. Click the + symbol besides Printers, the list will expand &
show all printers ever connected.
4. Place mouse pointer over each listed printer, Click Right
mouse button and from the Context Menu click Uninstall
(Repeat for any other printers in the list, until it is empty)
5. Click the + symbol besides Scanners to expand the list.
Place mouse pointer over each listed scanner, Click Right
mouse button and from the Context Menu click Uninstall.
6. Close all open Windows & Reboot.
7. Re-insert Printer cable and wait while drivers are installed.
8. Re-insert Scanner cable and wait for driver install.
9. Remember which cable goes in which socket, Reversing them
in the future could cause the "Phantoms" to re-appear.
