I am looking for the cleanest way to remove or if not possible disable all
versions & forms of Windows messanger, MSN messanger, Windows Live messanger
(latest) using GPOs & or .adm tools or registry settings deployed by GPO. I
have seen some scripts that will remove a single instance of the product but
do not want to visit all the PCs to deply this.
I also am looking to deploy the GPO based on selected computer names & not
authenticated users.

Thank you

These will NOT work for messanger. Only for messenger.

Do not allow Windows Messenger to be run

Administrative Template: System
Policy Node: USER
Policy Path: Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Messenger
Supported On: At least Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Windows Server
2003 family

Help/Explain Text: Allows you to disable Windows Messenger. If you enable
this setting, Windows Messenger will not run. If you disable or do not
configure this setting, Windows Messenger can be used. Note: If you enable
this setting, Remote Assistance also cannot use Windows Messenger. Note:
This setting is available under both Computer Configuration and User
Configuration. If both are present, the Computer Configuration version of
this setting takes precedence.
Registry Settings: HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Messenger\Client

Thanks for the info...& spelling lesson

That answers one version - what about the other 2 versions.

Beats me. Don't install them in the first place.

How to block MSN Messenger traffic and Windows Live Messenger traffic by
using ISA Server

This may stop both Windows Live Messenger and MSN Messenger from running.
As near as I can tell, Windows Live Messenger is just a newer version of MSN
Messenger.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Client
