Using form & Query

AC

I am new to Access's Form/Report function, and am not sure if this is workable.

I want to have a form, with details information displayed (either as blank
or not). With an input box that where i can put in a case number. With that
number, i would like to pull out the information relating to it and make
additional changes. (such as add in more details).

Will it be too difficult for a newbie to make? Thank you.

Hi AC
have a look at the access templates available on microsoft.com
There are samples that show how to use a drop down box.
You could build a drop down box to hold the case numbers.
When a case number is chosen, the form shows the details for that case
number.

very easy, actually.

First design your Tables. They're where data is stored, and the tables and
their relationships are the foundation of your database.

You can base a Form on your table of Cases, with textboxes and other controls
to display the information about the case.

On that Form you can put a "Combo Box" control using the toolbox combo box
wizard. Choose the option "Use this combo to find a record" and have it
display the case number.
