Using fonts I've downloaded

I am using FP 2003.

I would like to use a font for my website that I have downloaded (it isn't
included with microsoft products). I know when I use the font in other
programmes I must embed it to ensure others can view it the way I intended it
- otherwise when they view it, it displays with their default font (whatever
their default is).

Is this the case for FP? When someone views my site will the font that I've
chosen be displayed? - or will it show-up as their default font? - or perhaps
nothing will be displayed? How do I make sure the font I use is displayed
exactly the way I want when others visit the site?

I am new to FP and the whole website-thing in general, in fact think of me
as a 'complete idiot' when responding - pleeease - I need an answer a 2 year
old will understand. It has taken me a couple of weeks to figure out how to
use FP and before I go ahead and design my site, I thought it would be smart
of me to find this out to save me the trouble of going back and fixing things.

Thanks
K

In order for a font to be displayed when a viewer visits your site, the font *must* be installed on
their computer.

There is a technique you can use in a web called WEFT
http://www.microsoft.com/typography/web/embedding/weft3/default.htm
but it requires a visitor to agree to download and install the font.
Most people *won't* do it.

If you just want to use it occasionally for banners or such, make images of it and use the images on
your site instead.

snip
as per previous reply - can't be done, though then again it can be...
all depends on the size of the site, and just how much is going to be
in the special font, but being a beginner at FP, ~ more learning would
be required, cos to get want you want - it'd be achievable if you used
Flash, or Swish, if it's not a whole lot then the file size may be
quite acceptable in flash format, - if it's again only a snippet of
special font ~ a heading perhaps.. you could make up an image file for
that, in Paintshop for example. How much of your site do you want to
show using this Font? I don't mind an email if you want to toss around
ideas.
