I have just set up a wired network using homeplug which seems to be working
fine. Can see both computers on Newtwork places and Network connections
appear to be working fine but when trying the wizard to transfer files and
settings it says that it cannot locate the other computer. What could be
going wrong ?

Cannot locate other computer? Or cannot access? What's the exact error
message?

What you're talking about is probably a misconfigured or overlooked personal
firewall, or other security component. There are several other possibilities
though, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this article with an
open mind.

For more direct help, provide "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config
server", and "net config workstation", from each computer, so we can diagnose
the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
precisely (download browstat!):

I would avoid the FSTW if at all possible, especially if either computer is
non-XP. It's reliability is very low, and when it goes wrong it can do
serious damage, like mangling the location of system-folders such as "My
Documents."

There's only one way to do this reliably, and that's the hard-graft way.
