Using Contact Folders in Windows Mail

In windows mail, my contacts are arranged into folders--friends, family,
sports, etc. When I create mail in windows mail and click on TO or CC, I get
all of my contacts listed in one big list. On my old ME machine I could pick
the individual folder, "family" for instance, and just choose those family
members I wanted to send the email too. It was very convenient and I did not
have to type in everyone's name or search thru the entire contact list. Can
I use the individual folders in windows mail? I want to be able to click on
TO and be able to see all my contact folders (family, friends, etc), pick one
folder, and then choose the names from just that folder. I have not found a
way to have the individual folders (family, friends, etc) show up when I
click on TO. Thanks.

Instead of clicking on TO or typing anything there, try clicking on Tools
and then
Select Recipients in your new message window. You should be able to choose
all of a folder, but not select from it.

Windows Mail works differently than OE did. Many users say it's a step
backwards.
Although you can create folders and move contacts into them, it doesn't do
much good.
When you click on the To: button, all contacts will show up, disregarding
the folders.
However, you can open the Contacts folder directly, go to a sub-folder, and
right-click on an email address and select Action - Send Email to...

Windows Mail makes this procedure rather awkward.
Windows Live Mail is slightly better in that after you select a
group, it expands on the To line and you can delete members of the
group from receiving that email.

Thanks to all for your responses, especially Dave. Bottom line seems to be
that you can't do what I want to do. Like one of you said, a step backwards.
So, sending email is more of a pain, but it is prettier. Microsoft, please
fix this.
