Using conditional formatting to "blank" cells

Hi,

I've got a spreadsheet with some check boxes in it. When one of th
checkboxes is "checked", I want some new cells to appear that wouldn'
be visible if the checkbox is left "unchecked".

To achieve this, I've used conditional formatting to make the cells
background colour black if the checkbox is unchecked, thus "hiding
them. When the box is checked, the appropriate text appears. However,
want the user to be able to input data into a couple of the boxes, bu
obviously there is an IF formula in these boxes at present, and if dat
is entered, the IF formula will be erased.

Is there any way around this?

Sorry if my explanation's a little complicated.

Thanks

What formula is in the cell? Conditional formatting formulae are not in the
cells, they are separate.
