using avery label template, how do i clear the clipart?

I downloaded a template from the avery site for labels. It came with a
graphic in each field that i dont want. I cant figure out how to remove it.
Clicking it doesnt do anything because its like there is nothing there to
click. Its on some kind of locked layer or something.

If you have Word 2003 or earlier, display the Drawing toolbar and click the
Select tool (the white arrow). If it's Word 2007, on the Home ribbon click
Select > Select Objects.

That tool should let you click on graphics that are behind the text layer.
