In Microsoft Works Word, whenever I hold the ALT key down and then type the
code for a charater not on the keyboard, when I release ALT nothing happens.
What gives? I have Windows2000XP.

Don't know. Works for me all of the time. Asked this question
in a Microsoft Word newsgroup?

Are you typing the numbers on the number pad? Don't use the numbers above
the letter keys.
