I have a machine with dual monitor.

I have created a lot of toolbars on the edges of the
secondary monitor. (These toolbars have not been added to
the main taskbar). Is there a way that i can use some
feature like "Lock the taskbar" for those additional
toolbars? My problem is that if i do a remote login to my
machine, the placement of these toolbars shift from
secondary monitor to primary monitor which is very
annoying. Can this be prevented ?

thanks in advance,
p

Even if they were locked, all that means is they are locked in place on the
desktop, not locked in that monitor screen. Using two monitors is still only
using one desktop, it's just stretched over to the second monitor. So when
you remote in xp has to try to display this stretched desktop onto a normal
desktop, so it moves and resizes things to get it to fit. Anything on your
desktop, no matter what monitor it's viewed in, will show up when you
connect remotely cause a remote desktop connection shows the whole desktop,
not just what monitor one sees.

Understood.

But when i disconnect from remote desktop, and login at my
actual desktop, is it possible that my position for
toolbars is restored as original?

Man you would think so, but I haven't found a way. I know exactly what your
saying(had a dual monitor setup at work). It always changed the host
computers setup to match the client connecting and then doesn't put it back
after you disconnect. I never figured out a solution, sorry.
