using a newsreader not showing up

when I go to the web newsgroup for windows defender I cannot see any of my
posts.
It seems that it is not showing up on the web browser again- when replying
via a newsgroup program like Windows live mail which I am using
this is for announcements and general

Continue using Win Live Mail, Robin, I use Outlook Express, always have for MS News.

I guess the web UI is not working or no longer supports this ?

Bill would have to confirm, if he knows.

the problem is that if someone asks a question from the web browser and you
or I answer it, that person cannot see the answer.

Tim Clarke uses the web and he posted two items today, so I would assume it is working.

I knew someone at MS that could report this issues but he is no longer in that department.

Hope for the best, perhaps Bill will spot this and offer some insight.

Hello Robin:

The old problem found, some months back, is apparently not going to be
fixed soon, if ever.

If a new poster uses webview to ask a Windows Defender question, they
will only see our replies if we also use webview.

If you are posting through NNTP, which you did for this thread, I
should only reply with an NNTP post because your original post won't
be seen in webview.

e.g. I knew the OP wouldn't see an NNTP reply so I made a webview
reply through my Mozilla Firefox browser. Check out the thread in
"general" titled "WINDOWS dEFENDER" made on 4/28/2010. I know the OP
can see it because I can see it with either my browser (webview) or my
Mozilla Thunderbird newreader through NNTP.

You might also note my two different "From:" addresses - if a poster
has a "@discussions.microsoft.com" address, you may as well make a
webview reply. If you're reading this, my "From:" address is
(e-mail address removed) through your newsreader and NNTP.

we had this problem prior and it was fixed- now it is broken again
originally when this newsgroup came out you could see your post on both the
web browser and if you posted through a program.

IMO I believe it's very likely it will remain this way.

Brush the dust off your webview procedures if you're going to reply to
a webview poster.

I've given up trying to get this fixed. There is a critter called the "nntp
bridge" which is publicly available at Connect.microsoft.com, which appears
to be the model for the future--it allows an NNTP client to interact with
the web forum software. However, I don't believe it works with these
groups...

Thanks for the comments, Bill
I would fetch the tool wherever it is and give a test drive but I've always fetched
MS News via NNTP. Sorry for the others that have issue with the web UI.
