Using A domain

How do I make 2000 know that it is to connect to a domain? Where do I go
into to make this change?

Right now a user logs on to the PC itself...like a local PC user...and if
they want to access a network folder or something we get it by making a
connection to: \\server

When we do that it asks for a user/pass.

How do I go about setting it up so it automatically when I login is getting
authenticated by the domain instead of locally through the computer?

Hi,

I understand that you want to connect the Windows 2000 professional system
to the domain.

Please find the steps to connect the workstation to domain in the following
article. 'Navigate to the Adding the Workstation to The Domain' section of
the article.

Change the system name with your system name and domain name with your
domain name. Keep the domain administrator password handy or obtain the
right to add workstation to domain.

Once you connect to the domain, during logon you can choose to login to the
local computer or to the domain.

This is something that your network administrator must do
for you, as you need a domain admin password.
