Using 2003 GP's in 2000

Hi there,

I have heard that we can apply 2003 GPs in 2000 Server.

If this is possible, i would love to know how to implement this. The main
reason being that we have 200 users, that i want to apply the Windows
Firewall Off policy to. That and several others.

I have supposedly downloaded the 2003 adm files
(admFiles_WindowsServer2003.msi) from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...4B-7112-4B6C-AD4A-BBF3802A5C9B&displaylang=en

But i am unsure of how to implement these. I have run the msi that extracted
the adm files to c:\ADMFiles - but what now?

Any ideas how i can implement 2003 GPs in 2000?

Thanks in advance

Do you mean your DCs are on 2000 and you want to apply GP settings to
XP clients using some of the new Admin Templates provided with 2003?

Using an XP box and GPMC to edit your GPO's it should be fine.

Additionally, if you would only like to disable the Windows Firewall
you could disable the 'Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing
(ICS)' Service using Computer Config/Security/Services - then you dont
need the new ADMs.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

This is very simple to do. Download the ADM files and copy them to ALL
C:\winnt\inf folders on ALL DC's and any machines running the
adminpak.msi You can overwrite the ones there as the new ones are
cumulative.

Cheers,
