Is it possible to assign ESC (in place or in addition to the standard
ALT-F$) to close down a window or application?

This would be very useful for me

Escape is a standard windows key and cancels a dialog or a pending operation (like a drag and drop).

You can swap esc and F4 but you'll need to press Alt + Escape. Else you'll need to write a program.

How do I swap ESC with F4 (for the purpose of ALT-ESC as "exit")?
