users icons

The user icons do not show on my desktop. I turned the
client services etc off but still nothing.

I do get the prompt requesting the name of the user but I
prefer the icons.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong or not doing at all?

I think what you need to do is go to you control panel
and open up user accounts. Then click "change the way
users log on or off" then make sure "use the welcome
screen" is cheaked. Then all you have to do is click
apply options. Restart the computer and see if it works.
