Usernames

Somehow, a username had been removed from my computer. I
have the settings for it saved, but I can't get the
username on the login screen! I used the userpasswords2
control panel applet to try to enable it, but it's not
there either! The files are saved, along with the
registry. But I can't recreate it (Username already
exists, it says). The ASP.NET and Administrator accounts
are there, but aren't shown. Any help? I have until
Friday! Please email me back

Try this, as before I have seen account "disappear"
for the user interfaces if it somehow becomes no longer
a member of Administrators, Guests, or Users.
Open a cmd prompt start / run cmd
Enter the command
net users
Is the account listed ? Let us assume it is, and named Acct
Next enter the command
net localgroup users Acct /add
Where you told the account was already a member of Users ?
If so we solved nothing, but if not then we may have fixed
your issue. Check and see.
It is possible for an account to be fully well-defined, and so
not needing the above, but exempted from display on the
Welcome Screen. TweakUI from the PowerToys for example
can help you manage account availability on the Welcome
Screen.
