every time i would log o to my screen name ab error
message labeled "userint.exe" came up sying there was no
cd in the drive and if i wanted to retry, abort or cancel.
this started to get annoying so i found the file and
deleted it. when i go log on the next time it starts to
log in and plays the music, then it justs logs back out
again. i cant get on to any screen name to try and fix it.
i've tried reistalling windows but that didnt work.
can anyone help me!

USERINIT.EXE is an integral part of the Windows Logon process, and you basically screwed yourself.

Boot the computer with your XP CD (assuming you have a retail version) and let setup begin. You'll be offered the opportunity to Repair your installation. Select R at this point. You'll be prompted to enter the password for the Administrator account. This is not any "administrator" level user, it is THE Administrator account.

Once at the C:\Windows prompt, enter the following commands, following each one with the Enter key:

CD SYSTEM32

COPY C:\Windows\System32\dllcache\userinit.exe

Then reboot the computer.
