Userinit error preventing SP2 to install

Hi all,
I've tried SEVERAL times to install Sp2, and it's just not cooperating
with me, although I'm sure it's probably my fault. I'm hoping that
someone can help...

I install SP2, and everything SEEMS to work fine, untill it reboots,
and when I attempt to log in. When I log in, I get teh following
error: Application Error - Userinit.exe The instruction at "0x0009ef68
referenced at 0x0009ef68 memory. The memory could not be "written".

At first I thought that it might be a physical problem with the memory,
but I don't get any other errors that would indicate that. If anyone
has any solutions, I'd be greatly appreciative!
