Yes, that is possible. I'd check with your admin and see if that's the
situation.

The problem only exists with external mail.

Could it be that the admin set up exchange to send and recieve
externally at 30 min intervals to conserve bandwidth?

I am running Outlook 2000 through an Exchange server on a
network. Do I have control over how often my email is sent
and recieved? Right now it is happening every 30 min.

Are you connecting on a LAN?
What e-mail services do you have in your profile? Exchange only?
Is Exchange set up to handle Internet mail directly via SMTP, or using a POP
connector? (ask your admin if you aren't sure)

Are you working offline in Outlook, syncing to an OST file? If so, you can
tell Outlook to sync every X minutes while offline, or press F9 to force a
sync....

If not, I'd suggest you ask your exchange admin how your server is set up to
handle Internet mail. Or, if I've misunderstood and this isn't Internet
mail, you should still have a word with your Exchange admin.

-----Original Message-----
If you're running on a LAN Outlook should send/receive e- mail from Exchange
more or less constantly. Are you having this problem with both internal
and external mail or with external mail only?

It's not internet mail(pop). Just Exchange service.

Not syncing to an OST. When I press F9 it says no server
set up.

The problem only exists with external mail.
