User stuck in exclusive access

J

Jim

We have one user who gets a popup message that a database is not available
for exclusive access. The popup comes up 15-20 times. After clicking on OK
each time, the user can get to the database, but without write access. Other
users do not get this message.
We have checked the user and group security settings, the shortcut
properties, and the open access checkbox in Avanced tab in the Tools/Options
command.
Does anyone have other ideas. This is the only user that seems to have this
problem.
Thanks.

What are his permissions on the server folder where the shared tables are
located?
Are they the same as everyone else?

Yes, he has the standard user permissions.

sounds to me like Jet isn't reliable enough for multiple users.

if I were you, I would move to Access data Projects and you woudln't
have to worry about any of this crap

Can he create and delete a file using Notepad in that folder? If not he has a
permissions problem.

Please ignore Aaron's posting as Aaron's answer to just about every question is SQL
Server and ADPs. No matter how appropriate his answer.

Did you have him create then delete a text file in that folder while you
were watching? What if you create a text file in that folder from your
machine - can he edit or delete that?
The permissions levels on a folder can be several layers deep in the
advanced security options, and creating the text file is a quick indicator
of whether or not he has some of these permissions.
