My daughter (who does not have Admin privileges) was logged on and trying to
install a software program. since she did not have admin privileges a dialog
box popped up that allowed me to enter my username and password (admin) to
install, so i did.

when i logged on as myself all of my setting were wiped out. its as if i'm
a completely new user, all of my settings including Outlook are gone (which
means my saved emails are gone).

is there i can restore my acct and retrieve my profile?? I hope...

if anyone can help, pls advise. thx much.

I've seen this happen a number of times ... why ... don't know.

The quickest way is as follows:

1. Open Regedit.exe
2. Open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\ProfileList
3. Find your SID (left click on each S-1-5-21-* and look for
ProfileImagePath in right panel)
4. Close Regedit.exe

You should see where the changed profile path is for you. Modify it and
replace with your old path.

I would do this as Administrator (Windows XP built-in account) under Safe
Mode. Then reboot and login as your login username. You should be using
your old account path.
