Hi all,
I have a new install of WinXP Pro. I set up an
Administrator password. Now the machine requires that I
install all new programs as Administrator and will not let
me run them as a regular user.

I do log into a WinNT PDC. If I log into the local
machine only, then I can run one of the installed programs
as a local user. I cannot do this if I log in as a domain
user even though I have assigned the same rights under the
properties of the entire directory housing the program.

Questions:
1. How can I set up so a user can run a program installed
by Administrator?
2. Why should it make any difference if I am logged into
the domain or just the local machine re: ability to run a
program when the rights assigned are equal for the user in
both instances?

Hope someone can clarify this.

TIA

Bob

Your Domain account is probably not a member of the local Administrators
group on the PC.
If you add the Domain account to the local Administrators group you will
effectively logged onto the Domain as whatever level of user your admin has
given you but you will also be a full administrator on your local PC. This
will allow you to do whatever you wish.
