Hi,

We are seting XP Pro workstations n our office and want
to restrict access to MSN Messenger. Is there a way to
eliminate the MSN icon from appearing in the system tray
when a new user logs on to a particular workstation?

THe local group policy allows you to stop MSN messenger
from running at start up and prvents it from running
during a logon session.

Open gpedit.msc on the PC you wish to make the change on
and enable:
"\User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows
Components\Windows Messenger\Don Not Allow Windows
Messenger to be run"

and

"\User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows
Components\Windows Messenger\Do Not Automatically Start
Windows Messenger initially"

You can also do he same thing for everyone is you are
using a Group Policy assigned through the Active Directoy.
