user profiles

Is there any way to copy (backup) the user profiles? I
work at a fire department where 2 of our 10 computers are
XP,at some time the other will be upgraded from 98 to XP.
We have about 40 users profiles that will have to be
transferred in some way. Any thoughts so I don't have to
manually add users?

Scan/load state? Are you fireman or network admin for the firestation. If
it's the latter they're screwed!

Ouch. I presume this is a workgroup, not a domain? If it's a workgroup, this
is going to be very labor intensive.
