Windows registry was corrupted due to a virus, PC became
unusable. So I re-installed a fresh copy of "Windows XP
home edition" (booted PC directly from XP CD) into the
original Windows directory.
New profiles were created during the installation.
Unfortunately I am now unable to gain access to the
folders for the user profiles in "C:\Documents and
Settings" folder, which existed before the fresh install.
These original profiles do not appear in the "User
Profiles" list in the control panel. So are likely to not
exist in the registry either.
Please can you let me know if I can restore the original
profiles so that I can gain access to the files stored in
those folders?
Many Thanks
