User profiles in XP Professional

[Biocide]

When looking at user profiles under "My
Computer"-"Properties"-"Advanced"-"User Profiles", "Settings",
I will sometimes see a user has two profiles listed with exactly the
same type- "local", size, and modified date.
On occassion, one of the profiles will say "backup". I can not delete
one without deleting both and I can not find any documentation on
this.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Are there also duplicate profile folders under Documents and Settings in the
file system?

it might not help with
the issue you have posted
but it wouldn't hurt if you
installed a profile hive cleaner:

1) i will check out the hive cleaner.
2) there is only one profile folder in Docs and Settings.
