I am using a roaming profile. I want to clean up files (old tmp files
etc) within my profile area. How can I do this safely? I would like to
run a single command rather than deleting individual files.

Also can someone explain this:-
1. My System Properties User profiles reports the size of my profile
as 131244 KB
2. The directory for my login under C:\Documents and Settings is 290
MB.

Why is there a difference?

Thanks,
J

Delete everything you like in your temp folder - also might want to clean up
your IE cache (control panel, internet options, delete files).

The difference between 290MB and 131MB is not a great one. Aside from the
addition from registry entries, and other things stored in the profile
(including ntuser.dat) etc., the profile size sounds like it's being
accurately reported.

This seems like a lot of user interaction. What if you make a bad
judgement and remove an improtant file. I assume there is not a
commadn that can be run to clean things up for me?

What can be removed from the Application Data directory as this is
very large?

Generally, there is a lot tmp files - Why is this and what can I do
tostop this happening. I suppose it would be good to deal with the
cause of the problem i.e. what is generating these files, and try to
stop that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
J
