Hi All,
I bought a Dell machine off my last company with Win2k
installed. When starts up after pressing Alt+Ctrl+Del and
enter [username and password] every works OK.

Until I changed the domain name to WORKGROUP to share
with my existing machines in the LAN. Now when boot up, it
does not recognise the password anymore.

Why? How can I bypass the[username and password ]? I am
not able to change the domain name back to the original
one as I can't start up Windows to do that. HELP!

what you have effective done is , returned the security
authority back to the local system. Meaning it is no
longer a memeber of a domain, using a domain account to
login. Because it is now using the local SAM, you will
need a local account, try the administrator account with
blank password ( that is if the local policy has not
renamed it). One thing you can do , is ask for help from
your collegues at work, the IT team should be albe to
help, if not search the internet for tools that will help
you bypass this mishaps. You can also try the recovery
option at boot (F8)

Simon, how did you go? We did exactly the same thing.
What was your solution? Did you find any tools on the net?
