user maintenance in Vista Home Premium

I have a computer with Vista Ultimate. Past computers have had the 'pro'
versions of Windows. I just got a new HP computer from my kid and it
came with Vista Home Premium pre-installed.

One of the things I can't do in Home Premium is set a password so it
cannot be changed. At least I can't find it in Manage.

I believe in previous versions of Windows there were workarounds for
that. Is there a workaround for Home Premium? I do have an additional
license for Ultimate but don't want to use it only for that function.
Everything else in Home Premium suits my needs.

Hi Chris,

Set a password so what can't be changed?

The security model in Vista has users running within their own virtual
directory system, and no user has access to modify system files without
specifically invoking elevated privileges. If your son has a standard user
account, he should be able to use the machine unfettered, yet not be able to
damage the system by modifying system files with the installation of
malware.
