Within the last few days, my machine wouldn't log me on
(as user001...i never changed it). It told me that my
user001 may be corrupt and it was giving me a temporary
ID and I was working, but all settings were forgotten
each time I booted up.

I tried creating an ID using my name and giving myself
administrative prividledges and now it tells me:

a problem is preventing windows from accurately checking
the license for this computer. error code: 0X80090006.

Now it won't even log on. Any ideas for a remedy? Thanks!

For the user ID issue, see the following Knowledge Base Article:

As to the other issue, try the following in Safe Mode; boot the system,
start tapping F8, when the menu appears, select Safe Mode and press enter:

Go to start/run, and type

regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll

OK, then,

regsvr32.exe licdll.dll
