User groups

Hi,
is it possible to define logical groups when creating users accounts?
Example:
I create this users:

User1
User2
User3
User4
User5
User6

Then I want to divide these users into two logical groups, X example I want
User1,User2,User3 to belong to group1 and the others to group 2.
Is it possible with XPE? If so what component/s I have to include in my
Image?

Thanks to everybody,

Andrea

Hi there,

You can certainly create all of your user accounts using TD, by adding the
"User account" component as many times as you require (You can find it in
the Software->System->Security->Infrastructure section
You can specify the username and password and so on in the settings. I don't
know of a specifc component to create User groups but NET.EXE is a useful
command line tool that allows yout to do many things including creating
users and groups and put users into groups. Check out what it can do on a
full XP machine and you could probably write a CMD or batch file to automate
user and group creation as well as user to group aggregation to run in FBA.
The Net.exe is in a component called Net.exe Utility and can be found at
Software->System->Networking & Communications->Applications

I am not sure of it's dependancies but I am sure a quick dependancy check
will tell you, some of which you may be able to ignore (e.g. messenger
service) depending upon the purpose of your device

I hope that helps
Regards,
Nick

I have a really dumb question.
I add the User Account Component in TD, and the setting
have only the usual "advanced" tab.
Where do I put the user name, password, etc?
I have 3 user accounts, but nothing to tell them apart.

Ben,

Click on "Advanced" button for your "User Account" component and change
cmiUserName, cmiUserPassword, cmiGroup and etc. properties in the "Advanced
Component Properties" dialog.
You may want to search in XPE documentation for user account component info.

KM,

Perhaps I need a service pack.
I have no button for advanced on the User Account
component in Target Designer.
I have none of the cmi properties, nothing.
And that is what is driving me nuts, folks keep referring
to stuff that isn't there.

As for the documentation, I have nothing coming up in
component help for that component and when I searched the
broader help, it had nothing either.

Am I looking in the wrong tool?

Click on the User Account component in the center panel.
Look in the right hand panel for "Advanced..." and click it.

Mark,

Many thanks. I knew I had to be missing something.
The key that I was missing was that I needed to look at
the object, not its setting for the advanced settings!
