user group problem

I'm having a problem with accessing user group information in the Computer Management tool. If I right click on a user name in Computer Management (Local) / System Tools / Local Users and Groups / Users, and select Properties and Member Of, I get the following error message in a dialog box titled "Local Users and Groups"
"The following error occurred while attempting to read the properties for the user (user-name): The Server service is not started.

I'm running Windows XP Professional and all available updates have been applied. My system is not on a domain. I'm logged on as an administrator

Does anyone know the likely cause of this problem? It's not a big deal, except that the problem suggests that something is wrong somewhere, and I don't what other consequences may be lurking for me to discover later..

Suggestions:

Start/AdministrativeTools/Componet Services.

In the right pane, scroll down to Server and double click, select automatic
then click the restart button.
