User created mail template

I send several of the same email every month to different people. I created
email templates to assist with this. Everything was working great until a
few months ago. Now whenever I open the template to create the email, it
inserts a signature at the top of the template.

I do use the signature function with my outgoing emails, but I did not
change any settings between it working correctly and now.

Any help would be appreciated. It is getting old have to delete the top
signature every time.
