User Accounts

I set up a new user account on my machine (XP) but the administrator account
has disappeared. When I try to set up another administrator account it says
that account name is already in use. Please assist

Hi Chris D, a suggestion is if you can go into computer management. To do
this right click My Computer and click manage and go into Local Users and
groups. to see if you are a member of the Administrator group. hope this helps

The disappeared adminstrator account is the built-in account normally used
for maintenance and/or troubleshooting. It should not be used for daily
normal activities.

Once you create a second account, the Administrator account becomes hidden
but can still be accessed from Safe Mode (XP Home/XP Pro) or by pressing
Ctrl + alt + Del twice at the welcome screen (XP Pro).

Give the new account which you set up a different name...you have given to
this account the same name as the Adminstrator account.
