User Accounts Not Showing Up Any More

I have a Dell system running Win XP Home. Last week I was cleaning up
old files and must have deleted something I wasn't supposed to because
after the next restart the User Accounts do not show up on the Welcome
screen any longer. When I go in the User Accounts page I get a "Null
Entry" error and none of the user accounts show up. It lets me create
new acounts but they don't show up either.

I have tried to re-install Windows using the Dell Windows recovery disk
but it won't let me - I get a message to the effect that the version of
Windows on the recovery disk is older than the version I have on now
and I can't find a way to let it reinstall.

Any help is welcome.

Tried that, did not get rid of theproblem.
