using xp home sp2 and at the moment in the "user accounts" page there is the
computer administrator (by default) and name 'xyz' (also as an administrator)
and a "guest account" (which is turn off). Now

1) how can i change the status of xyz so that there will only be 1
administrator in the computer system (by default)
2) how can i delete 'xyz" so that in the "user account" page it will only
show the default administrator and 'guest account' only. ideally would like
to have the second option. thanks for your assistance.

Hello Christina,

You may log on to the machine using the default 'administrator' account credentials and delete the
'xyz' account through the user accounts applet. It is generally recommended to leave the default
'administrator' account alone and to use a different admin and user account. For your daily
purposes, its much more secure to use a limited user account rather than using a admin account.

You should not use the built in Administrator account for day to day
activities. That should be kept as a reserve in case something corrupts
the regular account. If that happens you can use the Administrator
account to fix it or create a new one but if all you have is the built
in account and that get's a problem you can't login.

So have at least one other account with administrator privileges on the
computer.
