User Account Software Access

Skavenger

Hello;

I have been running Windows XP Pro with only one account "Adminstrator" and
have been advised to set up a "User Account" rather than accessing the
Internet through the administrator account.

I now have two accounts however have encountered a problem. On the
Administrator account I have software such as Adaware and Window Washer (Set
to start load at Boot Up) installed, they are working fine on the Admin
Account however for some reason Window Washer does not load in the User
Account and either program will not run, they appear in the programs menu
however the icouns are blank (as if the software had been deleted).

How do I solve this problem and get theses options running on the user
account?

Thanks

Move the program shortcuts from
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
to
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Cut and move.

Drag them from one folder to the other.

If you drag using the right mouse button, a menu appears with the commands
Move Here, Copy Here, Create Shortcut(s) Here, and Cancel. Click on Move
Here.

If the shortcuts are in
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
those programs should start no matter who logs on.

I am the only user on my machine and I place startup short cuts in
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
not
C:\Documents and Settings\Wesley P. Vogel\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

In C:\Documents and Settings I have the following:
All Users
Bill Harvey (Administrator Account)
Daily User (Daily User Account)
Default User ?
LNSS_MONITOR_USR (Created by GFI Languard which has been unistalled)
LNSS_MONITOR_USR.XP1800 (As above)

The programs that won't run are already listed in the All User Start Menu
and not listed in the "Bill Harvey" Account Start Menu, so in theory they
should be able to run.

I am going to unistall and re-install them as at least one of them for
certain was installed prior to setting up the Daily User Account.

Give the User and/or User Group Full Control permissions for the Program's
Directory and subfolder and files.

You may also have to do the same for the Program's Registry keys.

I simply re-installed the software and all users are now able to use it.
