User Account Control and Excel

If I have the user account control enabled, all excel files are marked as
read only... If I disable the control, I can write to them and save them.
Also, with the control on, I cannot download and save anything as windows
says I do not have the rights. Any help would be great!
 
Which version of Excel is this? Its possible those spreadsheets could be
using Macros why UAC is not so trusting. I would, check the properties of
the Excel file and uncheck the Read Only box and try launching again and try
writing to it. Not sure if it will help, but you can also right click the
application's executable and click "Run as Administrator".
