user account automatic workstation lock

N

namtab

I'm the only user on my home install of XP Pro. Is there
any way to use the Administrator account to disable the
feature that automatically locks the User account when
I'm away from the computer for a few minutes?

Its just really annoying to have to log back on every
time I come back to my box.

Thanks,

Dave

In the user account that you use (whether this is administrator, or another
that you have made) just right click anywhere on the empty desktop and
choose Properties. On the screensaver tab, remove the checkbox next to
"password protect." Hope that's what you were looking for...

Thank you, but I get a box titled "Power Policy Manager
unable to set global policy" with the message "Access
denied."

I'm able to uncheck that box in the admin account, but
the change does not apply to the user account.

I've looked through menus under Users and Accounts--
changing passwords and so forth--in the admin account,
but can't find any options for this function.

Does anyone think it's possible to use "runas" to run the
power manager while logged on to the User account, log in
as admin, and make the change?

Thanks again for the replies.
