Recently I had to re-instal my Xp because of a virus, I
found out that my XP cd had a scratch and would not
install properly. Some one here suggested that I try and
copy the folder I386 to my harddrive and if the file copy
was succesful then my cd was not corrupt. Well the file
transfer worked and the instalation work this way, but,
the istalation dtil fails if I try with the cd. I think
because of the scratch. My question is, Will Burning my
WinXP CD to a new disc work, or will I have the same
problem. And, If this still does not worl can I borrow a
friens XP cd and burn a copy for me and install XP useing
my CD key work, or are the cd's themselve protected from
being copied?

You should be able to burn it, (try and see) but I would suggest that a
copy of a CD of the same sort would be safer (ie Home/Pro; Full/Upgrade
etc). This would work with your present Product Key - all CDs of a type
are the same, their Setup program puts the key through a calculation
that comes out as 'valid' or not
