I can't seem to move some video files that I've
downloaded. When I try, Windows tells me that the file
is being used by another program. There are no video
players open. I checked the process list and nothing
there is using it. The unusual thing is that every now
and then I CAN move one or two of them. Then, one moment
later, I can't.

There is a process ( which in my opinion is broken
precisely because of this weird behavior) called the
AVI properties handler. If you right click an avi file,
you'll see detailed information on the properties page
about the AVI.
It is this process that gets that info.
There is a registry key you can delete that resolves the problem,
but then those detailed properties when you right-click the
file will not be collected.
If you want to try this "fix" delete this registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}

You should probably export it first, so you can restore it later
if needs be.

Hi Joshua, Disable the thumbnail view in that folder and try again.
