Accomplished one CD-R session to write a data disc. After
that all sessions failed. Invalid media type, Invalid track
info. What causes this error?
DVD-RW works fine (or seems to)

What does this have to do with your subject line? Also, your post isn't
clear whether you have two drives or just one drive. I'm assuming just
one drive.

Boot the computer with Knoppix (or other Linux live cd) and see if the
burner functions properly by trying to burn both a cd-r and dvd-r. If
it does, go back to Windows and troubleshoot systematically. If the
burner doesn't burn cd-r's in Linux, the drive is toast and should be
replaced.
