'Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages' unavailable in Mail Format of
Outlook 2000. What needs to be done to enable these options. What has been
done to fix this is Outlook has been completely uninstalled and reinstalled
and also Office 97, un & reinstalled. User has admin rights. OS is WinNT4.0
SP6. All upadtes and service packs have been installed.

You would need to install Word 2000 or Office 2000.

We have over 300 users with this same configuration (Outlook 2K and Office
97), and this is the only 'unique' problem for this one user.

There might be something obscure with the installation order. The fact that it works at all is a little unusual (but it's been a long, long time since I've even seen Office 97, much less used it), since later versions of Office absolutely require matching versions of Outlook and Word. What I would try would be removing all traces of both programs, then do a clean install of Office 97, including Outlook, then upgraded it to Outlook 2000.

However, Outlook 2000 explicitly allowed the use of Word 97 as well as Word
2000.

Maybe there is someone more advanced in Office 97 and Outlook 2000 to answer
this question.
