Hi

How can i use the "&"-character in a footnote. As this is a
formatting-character I cannot simply insert it.

Thanks for any hints
Biff

It's not clear what the problem is. Are you trying to create a custom
footnote "number"? If so, you could type whatever you want in the
Custom mark box (in the Footnote dialog box). This works with the
ampersand, too.

But if you are thinking of some other character, you can click the
Symbol button and choose the desired character. Click OK, and then
click OK again to close the Footnote dialog box and insert the
footnote.

On the other hand, if you are trying to insert a special character in
the text of a footnote, all you have to do is click Symbol on the
Insert menu.

Sorry, wrong forum - i have the problem in Excel, where "&" is a formatting
character.
I'll shift my question to that forum...

Aha! You are trying to insert an ampersand in the *footer* area of an
Excel sheet? Try typing two successive ampersands. For more, look up
"&" in Excel Help.
