USB2 device running at USB1 speeds - help!

USB2 device running at USB1 speeds

I have a new USB2 1 gig memory stick which will only read or write at
USB1 speeds eg 192Mb of files transferred in 200secs = 1Mbytes/sec.

Running WinXP with SP2 and latest updates
Less than 2 yr old PC with USB1 and USB2 enabled in the BIOS
Device Manager shows no USB errors. (Only error is SM Bus controller
not installed)
USB mass Storage Device recognised as "Location 0 (USB 2.0(FS) FLASH
DISK )"
USB drivers version 5.1.2600.0
Disconnecting all other USB devices (printer & scanner) and using
different USB ports does not improve transfer speed

Does anyone have any suggestions how to get it running faster please?

Thanks

Visit the support website of the manufacturer of your computer
or motherboard and download the motherboard chipset drivers
and install them.

If you have an Intel processor and chipset:

Intel Chipset Installation:
