usb won't recognize new hardware

i have a new video capture divice & a new printer but i
cant get either to work. both are listed on usb port as
unknown usb devices.

did you get an installation disk with them? if they are newer than windows
xp then it may not recognise them

What do their manuals say about installing software first, before the
hardware? This can make a huge difference.
