usb to ethernet adapter

I have a Compaq Presario 5000a that HAD ME on it. we
wiped the partition and loaded Windows 2000 professional.
everything went well except it refuses to see the usb to
ethernet adapter.

Anyone have any insights?

Sounds like Windows 2000 does not have a built-in driver for the usb to
ethernet device. What does device manager show? Are there any unknown or
other devices? I would check with HP (Compaq) and see if there is a Win2k
driver download for your device. I found your model specific downloads at:
